Latest FBI Crime Statistics


According to the FBI's latest Uniform Crime Report (UCR) for 2019, the overall crime rate in the United States decreased by 1.3% compared to 2018. The violent crime rate decreased by 0.5%, while the property crime rate decreased by 1.9%.


In 2019, there were an estimated 1,203,808 violent crimes committed in the United States, including murder, rape, aggravated assault, and robbery. This translates to a rate of 366.7 violent crimes per 100,000 people.


In the same year, there were an estimated 6,925,677 property crimes, such as burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft. This translates to a rate of 2,109.9 property crimes per 100,000 people.


However, it is important to note that crime statistics can vary considerably depending on the location, time period, and method of collection and reporting.
